Total Defence Silver - Field Trip Reflection

For all the Sec 2 and 3's who had went for the SAF Camp on the 14 Nov 2011, pls filled in the reflection question on to a word document and send to me via email.. buntan70@hotmail.com

I will assess base on the criteria below:

1) The student is able to link what he has seen and done on the field
trip to some aspect of Total Defence, e.g., after visiting the Changi Chapel
Museum, the student understands the importance of having a strong Military
Defence capability and the need to always be prepared to defend our
nation.

2) The student is able to link what he has seen and done on the field
trip to how he or she can contribute to Total Defence, e.g., after visiting the
Singapore Discovery Centre, the student recognises the personal role that
he or she can play in order to help keep our country safe from terrorist
attacks.

LDC 2 on 17-18 Dec 2011

For all the sec 2 who are going to LDC 2 This week

As of now, we have Julian, Keithon, Brandan and Daryl not attending the course due to various reasons. They will need to attend the course next year and course fee will be paid by them.

As for the rest of us, we will be meeting at Tampines interchange , bus 969 queue at 7am , 17 Dec 2011. If you are late, we will not wait for you. You will need to take a cab down to BB campsite yourself.

Attire Full uniform( neat and boots polish) , hair cut and things to bring pls find out on BB HQ website under Senior program .

There will be a written test therefore pls study the notes given on the website and also your new BB handbook(general BB knowledge) can be found in pages 4-15 and page 31 . Pls prepare yourself early and make sure you have all the Full uniform parts and they must be neat and clean.

For Boys

For LDC2, Boys will report to the BB/GB Campsite in Sembawang on Saturday morning, 8.30 am, in their full uniform. They will be dismissed on Sunday afternoon, latest by 6 pm, from the Campsite.

Absenteeism from any of the course, projects, or failure of the written test, will mean they will fail the course.

Equipment list

Identity card (NRIC, school ID or ezlink card)
Sufficient money for your travelling
Sufficient change of clothes (including 1 extra set of Blue BB Polo T-shirt)
Track shoes with socks
Toiletries and slippers
Poncho
PT Kit
Backpack or field pack, with identification tag
Water bottle (at least 1.5 litres)
Torch light with spare batteries
Insect Repellent (spray/tube type)
Writing materials

All other personal items are optional. Handphones will not be allowed to be used during the course. Valuables are brought entirely at your own risk.

The Boys' Brigade Share-a-Gift 2011 FAA and Boys instructions

There will be 2 way transport provided, more info on transport will be given on next monday 12 Dec 2011. Below is the HQ instruction.

Bring along PT kit with BB blue regulation tee-shirt
Dismissal Time 9.00pm
All Boys are reminded not to bring expensive items. Valuables are brought entirely at your own risk.

All Boys are to have their breakfast before coming for their duties.

Please note that all Boys participating in this event are to adhere to the standard hair and uniform regulation. Kindly note that Boys should report in proper uniform and with proper haircut (hair should not be artificially coloured, and should not touch the ears, eyebrows or collar. There should be no sideburns). The Duty Officer/Staff for the day may exercise discretion in disallowing Boys to participate in the duty in the event they are found to be out of attire or are found sporting an improper haircut.

Do note that there should be no changes made to the names of the Boys submitted to the Brigade Office for duty. Please remind the Boys that they are not allowed to leave the event before the overall Officer-in-charge, Mr Frederick Kwan, dismisses them. Attendance will be taken in the morning punctually and in the night. Anyone who leaves the event without permission will be subject to disciplinary action.

Hi Boys, 29 Oct 2011 will be your last try for your Adventure Badge this year. If you missed it or fail then wait till next year June. Therefore, I urge that all of you pls take care of yourselves and also rest well tonight so that you have the strength to pull through tomorrow.

This few days had been raining and the place we are going to track are forested area, therefore safety is the up most important for all of you. The ground is wet and muddy and slippery, I don't one anyone of you to fool around during the tracking. Nevertheless, all the best for all of you. Below are the things to bring.

Things to bring
1) Attire: BB PT Kit
2) 1 x 1.5 Litre of water bottle (with water)
3) Umbrella or poncho
4) Ez-Link and money for Lunch
5) Insect Repellent (optional)
6) Snacks (optional)
7) Water proofing your bag

Note:
1) No one is allow to use your handphone at any time accept for emergency cases. All phone will be kept in the Squad Leaders Bag before setting off. (SL to bring extra plastic bags for phones)

2) No Ipod or any anti-social devices are allowed during the tracking.

3) Only Shoes is allow.. No sandals.

4) At all times to follow the instruction of your CSM and ASM.

Pls read below for more information:

Meeting place: JYSS
Time: 6.50am
Attire: Fatigue (hair short)

Actual Venue:

St. Andrew’s Secondary School at 15 Francis Thomas Drive.
However, teams are to report for registration at St. Andrew’s Junior School at 2 Francis
Thomas Drive.Only participants and registered helpers are allowed to stay in the venue.

Event Duration

The Event will commence at 9:00 am and conclude by 5:30 pm. Registration will start from
8:15 am.

Companies are encouraged to arrive earlier with your Boys for registration to avoid
congestion closer to the end of the registration window.

No Boy or Team is allowed to leave the Competition venue before the end of the Prize
Presentation Ceremony without the express approval of the Chairman. Any Boy or Team
found doing so will be disqualified immediately and the Company may be liable to be
removed from the Honour Roll.

Swimming Badge claim rejected by HQ

For those Boys who had handed in your swimming cert. I had checked with HQ. Acorrding to them. They say that (I quote):

" In order for you to transit to the new award, you need to go to the place where the Boys undergone the test and ask them how to get the SwimSafer cert Bronze, which is our Swimming requirements for Stage 1 to 3. The Learn to Swim and NASSA is outdated and the swimming instructors should already know that. There is a new national standard – Swimsafer and this is what is in our handbook." -

Therefore, in short, they need your swimming cert requirement (how you attained that cert) from the place you take the test. If not they will not recognise that organisation as there is a new national standard - "Swimesafer"

So, if you still want to get that badge, then, pls provide me the required information and I will follow up with them. Whether or not they approve will depend on HQ.

Upcoming BB Event for the next 3 months

Hi Boys, This term will be a busy term for you (both studies and BB Activities). This post is to bring to your awareness so that when we announce, you will not be too surprise. With this information, pls inform your parent which are the dates we will be having Camps, BBSGB etc.. so that they can plan your family activities accordingly.

Pls note that some of the activities, if you are absent or sick, you will not get your badge as they are conducted by BB HQ. Hence, I would like to ask all of you to be present for all event as much as your parent allows. See below.

I would like to invite all Boys to come for our church (GEFC) youth ministry (Kaleo Bible Fellowship) re-opening celebration this coming sunday. In fact, this sunday our church is also celebrating youth day during our sunday service, therefore I would also like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to join us and after that re-opening of Kaleo.

Result of BB Blaze 2011

I am proud to announce that our Boys did very well in this year BB Blaze 2011 (National Competition). We are being presented Silver Honour roll for the competition.

I want to take this opportunity to thank God for his blessing and all the Boys who participated in the event ,going through all the time consuming, muscle straining and mental persevering training with me. I really enjoyed my time with you all and proud to be part of the team.

Therefore, to celebrate the hard work we had put in, I will give all the BB Blaze Boys a Lunch treat (after exam) for the effort they had put in all this months.

Rock-Climbing & Abseiling - Tuesday; (22/02/2011)

There will be a Rock-Climbing and Abseiling activity at Safra Yishun Adventure Centre this Tuesday (22/02/2011). It will be during parade time, from 2.10pm to 6pm. Please bring your PT Kit along with your trackpants too.

On the day itself :

Report to the school foyer at 2.10pm in school uniform. The teachers will decide there whether we'll change into our PT Kits in school or in the centre itself. Also, please note that for the whole trip, transport is provided to and fro.
